Slipcover for a School House came from a response to the decaying buildings on a residency in central Nebraska. The slipcover – crisp and white - was designed to highlight that decay; sacrificing practical entrance to the building for a clean face to a dilapidated exterior. Inspiring people to notice and perhaps do something to arrest it. Though one’s vision is impaired, as the sun at its brightest peak reflects off the white schoolhouse, the howling of wind meeting paper underscores the fragility of the sculpture. Thus, a process is created through art that calls upon one sense while denying another.
