Bridges Are the First Thing They Blow Up
A 15’ white paper bridge, with 18 cathedral windows is skewed over its length to create a series of unique viewpoints. The sculpture’s fragility while floating in space creates a ghostly and heightened awareness between the body and an object’s potential to connect one thing to another. I learned that bridges are the first thing they blow up in wartime because they are so integral to transportation and communication. And as a symbol, bridges represent the connection between two isolated things, making it possible to go between them. Whether that's two bodies of land, two thought connections or two different spiritual planes. As such, these things are all encased in its iconography.
