Lost Symbols Interior
2010
paper, fabric, wax paper,
approx 4' diameter
This is the parts and pieces for an interactive sculpture for a show in Brooklyn, 2010. Each box has a symbol that deals with death and inside the box, is handmade paper with instructions for the viewer's participation. For example, the box with the image of a Raven, who has been symbolically depicted as a messenger between the living and the dead, contained pink paper speckled with gold, and instructions to write a letter to a lost loved one. These pieces were inside a muslin floating tent, built to mimic a grain silo, with diffused lights sewn into the fabric and a gold throne to sit upon.
